Episode Brief
Robin's Nest is used as the location for a film starring Olivia Ross and her husband Jack Martin. Magnum is less-than-enthusiastic about being hired as Jack's stunt double and takes the job only because of his admiration for Olivia. But, when Jack is critically injured during a key scene in which Olivia shoots Jack with a prop gun - and the gun turns out to be loaded with real bullets - Magnum investigates the mysterious circ*mstances.

3 Dana Wynter (Olivia Ross), once called Hollywood's "oasis of elegance", will make another guest star appearance in Season Three's "Foiled Again" (3.8).
4 Barry Nelson (William B. Knox) was the first actor (and the only American) to play James Bond on screen, in a 1954 adaptation of Ian Fleming's novel Casino Royale on the TV anthology series Climax! (preceding Sean Connery's interpretation in Dr. No by some eight years).
5 Larry Pennell (Jack Martin) will play bad guy Norm Vogel in Season Seven's "Kapu" (7.10).
6 This episode provides a unique opportunity to see the Panavision cameras, lighting systems, and crew used to film the series. This episode was apparently filmed using a Panaflex camera. 7 The estate's partial address is given as "Kalakaua Kalakua Road". In "Italian Ice" (2.16), the street name was given as just "Kalakua Drive". We also get a good look of the estate's front gate (and gatehouse) from the main road.
8 Veteran television actress Kathleen Nolan (Myrt Callahan) was President of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) from 1975 to 1979. She was the first woman ever elected as President of SAG. She previously appeared on Magnum P.I. in Season One's "The Ugliest Dog in Hawaii".
9 At the 39:53 mark, a good closeup shot of Magnum's Team Ring (with the Cross of Lorraine) can be seen.
10 The date seen on the clapperboard during the filming of the movie is 1-6-82, which is fairly close to the actual air date of the episode (2-25-82).

13 For many years, the IMDB (and other sources) incorrectly credited Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood as appearing in this episode (as Reporter #2), as well as three other Magnum P.I. episodes. The correct Ron Wood was added to the IMDB in 2007.

Flubs
1 At the beginning of the episode, Magnum says he just got into Oahu at 7:00AM after taking a "midnight" redeye from Los Angeles. The times don't work. It's about a six hour flight. Leaving at midnight means he lands at 6:00AM L.A. time, or 3:00AM Hawaii time, NOT 7:00AM! (Noted by MPS)
2 Higgins demonstrates Zeus and Apollo's attack-on-command abilities to Billy Knox (Barry Nelson) in an early scene. When Higgins says "Whatever the situation requires" and Zeus and Apollo approach Magnum and Myrt Callahan (Kathleen Nolan), a dining table is visible with a large flower centerpiece. At the end of the same scene, and as Billy Knox turns to say "Welcome aboard", the camera pans right to Magnum and the dining room table. The flower centerpiece has mysteriously disappeared and been replaced with a small bowl. (Noted by J.G.)
3 Just before Magnum's stunt double beach fight scene, T.C. and Magnum discuss whether the Sushi Brothers will "pull their kicks". T.C. is wearing a dark green Island Hoppers T-shirt with a yellow emblem. Moments later, while filming the beach fight scene from his helicopter, T.C. is wearing a black T shirt with a gray or white emblem. (Noted by J.G.)
4 When Magnum is by the tidal pool and Olivia Ross walks up to him, Magnum says to her, "thought you'd be asleep". Olivia replies, "No, warm bath, fresh change, works wonders". When she says "works wonders", they show her face but her mouth/lips are not moving at all. (Noted by Mark S.)
