You may have your magic spells, your wizard training, your leader, you may have the strength of millions, but do you have what it takes to defeat me?
My brother, Cyrus... you have apparently lost your faith in my abilities. How unfortunate... and how blind of you. The lords of Dragonspyre lacked the will to command the Dragon Titan. I am far stronger than they were. I am the Master of Death. The Dragon Titan will do as I command. I will order it to return my wife Sylvia to life, so that she might rule at my side.
Wizard, I am the Master of Death! I journeyed into darkness and returned more powerful than ever! I will take you apart and reassemble you as a wretched thing, to be pitied and feared by every living being in the Spiral!
And so it comes to this. You, shaking in your too-large robes. A flimsy wand trembling in your grasp. The sour scent of fear sweat in the air. And me. EXULTANT in my mastery of magic. In a small way, I should thank you. If you had not sent me spinning off into the void, had not destroyed Morganthe, I might not have been able to achieve this. At my moment of greatest pain and confusion and despair, the locked gates of the Spiral opened before me and I was able to master Shadow. Once you are but a memory and a pinch of dust upon the wind, I will have the power to restore my Sylvia to her vibrant form. Then we can live out our lives as we planned, quietly and in peace. And Shadow take any who get in our way. I challenged you under the ancient Law of Kan Davasi. It is just between us now, Wizard. Prepare your spells and face my cold fury!

Summary[]

Malistaire Drake is the main antagonist of the first arc for Wizard101. Originally from Dragonspyre, Malistaireand his brother Cyrus were born into a family of Battle Mages and would go on to teach magic at Ravenwood along with Malistaire's wife, Sylvia. The Drakes would occupy the position of the professors of the three Spirit Schools, with Sylvia teaching Life Magic, Cyrus teaching Myth Magic, and Malistaire teaching Death Magic. Eventually, Malistaire's wife, Sylvia, would contract a deadly disease, which would eventually lead to her death. Devastated by the loss of his wife, Malistaire would dedicate his time to searching for a way to bring his wife back to life.

Malistaire made a deal with the Cabal to steal Bartleby's Eye of History for them in exchange for telling him what he needs to restore Malistaire's wife. Malistaire eventually did steal the Eye of History, separating the Death School from Ravenwood in the process. It was at this point that Malistaire first made contact with the Wizard, and from then on the two became enemies. After giving the Cabal the Eye of History, Malistaire learned that the secrets of restoring his dead wife were stored inside the Krokonomicon, so Malistaire journeyed to Krokotopia with the goal of stealing the ancient book. Unfortunately, however, a group ofMarleybonian Archeologists beat him to it, and took the Krokonomicon back to Marleybone, inside a sarcophagus that was on display in the Royal Museum.

Malistaire would go on to free Meowiarty from prison in exchange for breaking into the Royal Museum and giving the Krokonomicon to Malistaire. Once the Krokonomicon was in his possession, Malistaire ventured to MooShu to meet with Emperor Yoshimoto and request a Spiral Key to Dragonspyre. The Emperor refused, so Malistaire placed a curse on him and stole the Spiral Key for himself. While in Dragonspyre, Malistaire planned to summon the Dragon Titan and have it resurrect Sylvia for him, but he was ultimately stopped and killedby the Wizard before he could carry out his plan. Sometime after his original battle with the Wizard, Malistaire would be resurrected and enraged by Morganthe and the Black Sun Necromancers with the goal of having him take control over the Lords of Night, forcing them to teach Morganthethe Song of Creation and help her control the comet Xibalba.

When the Wizard found their way to Xibalba as well, Malistaire battled the Wizardfuriously, and at one point was ready to unleash his full power against them. Due to his enormous power, however, the hunk of rock Malistaire was standing on broke apart from Xibalba and lead him to Darkmoor. While in Darkmoor, Malistaire would learn Shadow Magic for himself and would challenge the Wizard one last time to a battle to the death by the Law of Kan Davasi. The Wizard would once again defeat Malistaire, and Malistairewould peacefully pass on to the Other Side with his wife, Sylvia.
